Fleas are a component of living that are unavoidable for both cats and dogs. They can be found everywhere, even in a clean environment such as in your home. You don't have to be embarrassed to seek help with controlling them.
What do fleas look like?
Fleas are brown in colour and are around 2-3mm in length. They are extremely tiny, allowing them to move easily through the fur of their hosts, where they spend half of their adult life. One or two adult fleas can only move between hosts when they are in close proximity (for example, when sleeping together).
How can I tell if my pet has fleas?
Fleas feed by sucking blood from pets multiple times a day with their highly specialized mouthparts. They must first bite into your pet's skin to take its blood. These bites are the reason for your pet's intense scratching.
A suitable flea comb should be used to carefully comb your pet's coat to determine if it is infested with fleas. The waist, neck, behind their ears, and "armpits" are the best spots to check to see if the animal is flea-infested. Fleas gather in these areas since they're the warmest.
Dimethicone
Dimethicone, a form of silicon, is the most important ingredient in the Skin & Coat with Anti-repellant properties. When parasites (including fleas and ticks) come into contact with this component, a sticky layer builds around them, blocking their joint movement. They can no longer hold on to their host's coat when moving around and it becomes impossible. They will fall out of the coat or can be easily brushed away.
The application of environmental products can also stop parasites. Dimethicone is non-toxic and does not qualify as a pesticide; the product's function is solely mechanical. In order to breathe, insects and mites have to move therefore, the immobilizing effect of Dimethicone will eventually kill them.
Skin and Coat with Anti-repellant properties
We've developed four different Skin and Coat variants to provide parasite prevention (3x dog, 1x cat). The Dimethicone can spread fast and uniformly throughout the coat when applied in a line. 1 Pipette can be used for up to 8-10 days. When parasites come into touch with Dimethicone, they become immobilized and fall off the coat or can easily be brushed off. From the age of 12 weeks, this product is suitable for cats and dogs. Do not use during pregnancy or lactation.
